Treatment Process

Pigment is not one thing
A brown mark can be caused by sun exposure, inflammation, hormones or another process in the skin. Some pigment sits close to the surface; some lies deeper or behaves unpredictably. Treating it without understanding it can make the problem harder rather than easier.
Pico Laser is therefore used selectively, not automatically. When Microneedling, skin care, sun protection or another route is better suited to the pigment and the person, that is the route we recommend.

Pico Laser may be considered for
- Suitable sun-related pigment spots
- Well-defined areas of uneven pigmentation
- Persistent marks that have been assessed first
- Clients who need a targeted rather than full-facial approach
- Pigment concerns where Pico Laser fits the wider treatment plan

What happens during your appointment
We begin by examining the pigment and discussing its history, including changes, previous treatments and sun exposure. When Pico Laser is appropriate, the area is cleansed and treated using settings chosen for your skin and the pigment being targeted.
You may feel brief warmth or snapping sensations. After treatment, we cool and support the skin and explain the aftercare, sun protection and expected response.

Results that require patience
The treated area may temporarily darken before the pigment begins to fade or disperse. Improvement develops over time and more than one treatment may be needed. Some pigmentation can return, especially when hormones or sun exposure continue to influence it.
We do not promise complete removal. We review the response before deciding whether another Pico Laser session or a different approach makes sense.

Darker skin tones need deliberate choices
Pico technology can be used on a range of skin tones, but that does not make every setting or every pigment concern automatically safe. Darker skin can develop post-inflammatory pigmentation after irritation. Conservative treatment choices, appropriate intervals and strict sun protection matter.

Recovery and aftercare
Temporary redness, warmth, swelling, darkening or light crusting can occur, depending on the area and intensity. Do not pick or scrub the treated skin. Keep the routine gentle, protect it carefully from the sun and follow the specific advice you receive.
SAPEDA aftercare is selected only when it supports the skin at the correct stage.

When we do not treat
We postpone treatment over active infection, open or severely irritated skin, recent tanning or sunburn. Certain medication, pregnancy, recent procedures, suspicious or changing lesions and some medical or pigment conditions require postponement, referral or a different approach. We do not laser a mark that first needs medical assessment.

Frequently asked questions
Does Pico Laser remove all pigmentation?
No. Results depend on the pigment type, depth, cause and skin response. Some marks respond well; others need a different approach or can return.
Is Pico Laser suitable for melasma?
Melasma is hormonally influenced and can be reactive. Laser is not automatically the first or best option. We assess the pattern carefully and may recommend another plan.
Is it safe for darker skin tones?
It can be appropriate, but careful assessment and conservative settings are essential because darker skin has a greater risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation after irritation.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on the pigment and its response. We allow the skin to recover and review the result before planning the next step.
What is the difference from Microneedling?
Pico Laser targets suitable pigment with short laser pulses. Microneedling creates controlled channels to support renewal and can address pigmentation alongside scars and texture. The best choice depends on the concern.
Can you treat a new or changing dark spot?
Not without appropriate medical assessment. New, changing, irregular or suspicious lesions should be checked by a doctor before any cosmetic laser treatment.
Before we treat pigment, we identify what we are treating.
Book a pigment consultation so we can assess whether Pico Laser, Microneedling or another approach is right for your skin.
